The Certificate in Christian Studies is a part-time, two-year course designed for adults who want to deepen their understanding of faith, scripture, worship, ethics, and mission. Open to all, it is especially valuable for those exploring ministry or preparing for licensing as a Diocesan Reader.

Course Modules
Year One
The Bible (Autumn 2024, 2026, 2028)
An introduction to the Bible as the central text of Christian belief, exploring modern study approaches and its relevance today.
Thinking About God (Winter/Spring 2025, 2027, 2029) How Christians speak about God through the Creeds, revelation and contemporary challenges to belief.
Christian Worship (Spring/Summer 2025, 2027, 2029) The place of worship in Christian life, its historical development and contemporary practice.
Year Two
Mission and Ministry (Autumn 2025, 2027, 2029)
Exploring Christian mission, the Church’s outreach, and the role of local context in shaping ministry.
Ethics (Winter/Spring 2026, 2028, 2030)
How Christians make moral decisions and respond to contemporary issues of human experience.
Church History: Christianity in Ireland (Spring/Summer 2026, 2028, 2030)
The story of Christianity in Ireland in its European context, with insights into how history informs present faith.
