Latest News Diocesan Confirmation Retreat (CF26)
Newtown Secondary School, Co. Waterford 2026
It is hard to believe that when you are reading this that we have had our Diocesan Confirmation Retreat and that we have Celebrated Easter.
Again we had the fanatic pleasure of hosting our Diocesan Confirmation retreat weekend in Newtown School, Co. Waterford. In total we had 35 Confirmands, from across our diocese of CFO.
Young people from the Diocese arrived full of beans and excitement, rooms where allocated and parents left, leaving their young people, with us. (full of beans!!)
Saturday started off with a few introductions, a few basic rules, a bit of food followed by worship with a talk which was part of the Confirmation programme.
Sunday morning arrived and we headed off to Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford, for Palm Sunday Celebrations with Dean Bruce Hayes, who welcomed us with wide opened arms, our young people participating and experiencing worship in a Cathedral. Sunday evening, was full of activity as we took the walk to Activate (an indoor adventure centre- bowling, roller blading etc) and had a bit of food there too before heading back to Newtown school.
Monday then brought our last talk and tidy up before parents gather to collect their young people, their very tired young people and head back to various corners of the diocese.

It is with Huge Thanks to Newtown School for feeding and accommodating us, To Revd. Cannon Nicola Halford for being our Chaplain for the weekend, Carolyn from Children’s and Family ministry ,our DCO Shane Reynolds, and the many people who gave up their time to volunteer for the weekend; Huge Thanks also goes to Bishop Adrain who came to meet our young people, , Revd. have a chat, join us for worship and to have some food with us, along with some visiting came down and said hello and chat to our young people aswell.( to name people is a dangerous game, but you know who you are, and I thank you!) These weekends are never possible without a team and people willing to give up their own time for our YOUTH! Thank You folks!
